Project Design Document Specialist: Beijing

My client is a leading specialist in the carbon credits space, originating and buying CERs generated from CDM (Clean Development Mechanism) projects across China, including natural gas, hydropower, biomass to energy, CMM (Coal Mine Methane), wind power and anaerobic digestion.

They are involved in all stages of the CDM development and CER generation process, from:

·Identification of potential projects

·Working closely with DOEs to decide upon the best methodology to use

·Managing the approvals and financing processes

·Overseeing the verification of GHG reductions by closely monitoring and measuring the performance of projects

·Buying and selling CERs

They are currently looking to hire a PDD (Project Design Document) specialist who has had experience writing at least 5 PDDs and with a general overall knowledge of CDM project development.

Responsibilities of the role include:

·Generation of PDD baseline methodology, calculations of GHG emissions reductions by sources and environmental impact assessment (EIA)

·Ensuring that EIA is properly evidenced within the document and that there are no deviations from the selected methodology

·Liaising with DOEs and other regulatory bodies in order to validate CDM project registration requests and issuances

·Writing PDDs from scratch and revising pre-existing documentation

·Including a realistic crediting period within the document

Skills and qualifications needed:

·You must speak and write Mandarin Chinese to native level

·Strong spoken and written English is a plus

·You must have experience of writing at least 5 PDDs successfully and accurately

·Excellent numerical skills and a deep understanding of the calculations and formulae required within a PDD

·Clear understanding of at least two types of CDM project

·Clear understanding of different methodologies

·Able to start a new role by the end of November 2009
